PayPal is prepared but disconnected. You do not need Stripe. Nobody can be charged until you connect PayPal on a permanent hosted dashboard.
Give someone Plus or Pro for free.
- Open the updated app and sign in as Administrator.
- Open Give someone a plan for free.
- Enter an email already registered on this dashboard, choose Plus or Pro and an optional expiry.
- Click Give free plan. They can see it in Plan & billing.
No payment account or card is needed. It never gives administrator access. Revoke it on the same page. If the email is missing, enable sign-up and ask them to register first. Confirm their account: email verification/recovery is still unavailable.
Connect PayPal when you are ready.
- Create your own PayPal Business account and check subscription eligibility.
- Host the management backend at a permanent HTTPS address with private persistent account storage. This information website and a temporary PC tunnel do not provide central commercial billing.
- Create a sandbox app in PayPal Developer and sandbox plans: Plus at £6.99/month and Pro at £14.99/month. Use a separate sandbox buyer account to test.
- Follow the included BILLING_SETUP.md operator guide to add the client ID, secret, plan IDs and webhook ID to your host’s private settings. The webhook path is /api/billing/paypal/webhook.
- Complete actual sandbox checkout, completed-payment, renewal and cancellation checks before explicitly enabling live payments.
Keep API secrets private. Never send them in chat or put them in a customer download. Payment approval and card details stay with PayPal. Returning from PayPal does not itself unlock a plan; the backend checks the completed payment. Customers can refresh the plan and cancel renewal from the website.
A clearer app, with a little motion.
Version 0.3.15 has a cleaner dark workspace, consistent icons, clearer page guidance, tidier cards and short page/dialog/button transitions. Your saved themes, compact layout and reduced-motion setting remain available. Operating-system reduced motion is respected. The native app hides its duplicate download promotion while keeping the reminder to leave the hosting PC awake.
What still needs infrastructure?
Real PayPal processing is not connected or provider-tested yet. Commercial launch still needs hosting, verified/recoverable accounts, operational backups and production security review. Hosted plan allowances are Free 1 server, Plus 3 and Pro 10; all implemented tools remain available. The desktop self-host preview remains unrestricted. Hosted Test Lab compute, browser gameplay, team roles and backups are not activated by payment.
